Who is Jim Connolly:

Jim Connolly was born into extreme poverty in London's East End. At the time of his birth, his hardworking parents and elder brother lived in a single, rented room. He grew up very much on the ‘wrong’ side of the tracks, on a run-down and extremely violent council estate. By the time Jim reached his teens, he had already witnessed a murder, been stabbed and been shot at! After leaving school with no qualifications and before he was legally allowed to (aged just 14), Jim got into bad company and his life continued to spiral downward. To qualify that, whilst still in his teens, he miraculously survived an attack on his life from a gang who were armed with axes – which left Jim almost dead; with three skull fractures and requiring hundreds of stitches.

After years of aimlessly drifting from one disaster to another, he was given some self help books by his brother Michael. Although Jim had no intention of reading them, he did briefly read the back cover of each of the books to see what they were about. It was here that he discovered what he refers to now as a ‘fundamental truth’ that was to transform his life. 

As Jim puts it;
“These books all had a brief bio of the author on the back cover and each one told how the author came from an average or poor background and went on to become successful.  You see until this point, I had just assumed that because I was uneducated, tatooed and broke, that I would always live in a slum and never achieve anything.  I thought that 'this was it' for me!

Until that point in my life, my mother was the only person who believed I had the potential to achieve anything.  That said, in 1976, when Arnold Schwarzenegger met me on a visit he made to officially open the gym where I boxed as a kid, he told my late mother that; "this kid could go a long way - he's got attitude!"  I actually had stacks of attitudes - and all of them were BAD!

What the development books my brother gave me did, was show me that my past was not an excuse for my present! 

I learnt that no matter what someone's background is, they could achieve incredible success providing they did the right things – that life and the marketplace always rewarded people who are worth rewarding and that anyone can massively increase their value to the marketplace extremely quickly.

I learnt that there were no excuses – That I could become whatever I wanted!

Within days I set about changing my life and read everything I could on personal and then professional development – hundreds of books. Some were good, other’s were less good, but I managed to learn something from all of them. With no qualifications and using cosmetics to hide my visible tattoos, I went to work as a salesperson and decided that the best way to succeed was to copy what the most successful people were doing – which I did. It worked – really, really well. Within a few months the money started coming in and I paid a Harley Street specialist to remove the tattoos from my hands – a painful but liberating experience!

I went on to achieve outstanding success within sales and in 1996, I decided to set up my own business; to help other people achieve outstanding results using the key skills that I had already used so successfully in my sales career.”

Since then, Jim has coached or trained thousands of people from all over the world.
